Chevrolet Silverado EV

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is not a gasoline Silverado with a battery dropped in. It is a ground-up electric truck purpose-built on the Ultium platform, designed from the start to deliver the towing, payload, and work capability that truck buyers expect, combined with real-world range and charging speed that make an EV viable as a primary vehicle. It competes directly with the Ford F-150 Lightning and represents Chevrolet’s commitment to proving that electric trucks can be legitimate tools, not just novelty vehicles for early adopters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Range and Towing Capability

The Silverado EV is available with multiple battery configurations targeting different range and capability priorities. Higher-capacity versions are rated for up to 400-plus miles of range on a charge, more than most other electric trucks currently available. Work-focused versions trade some range for competitive pricing and strong payload ratings. Towing capacity reaches up to 10,000 pounds on properly equipped configurations, which puts the Silverado EV squarely in the territory where it competes seriously with gas-powered half-tons for real-world truck use.

Charging and Onboard Power

The Silverado EV supports DC fast charging at rates that allow drivers to recover significant range in a short stop. A high-output onboard charger on upper trims enables fast Level 2 home charging overnight. The truck also features multi-flex power outlets including available 120V and 240V outlets in the bed and cabin, enabling the Silverado EV to serve as a mobile power source for job sites, camping, and emergency situations. The available hands-free trailering assist system uses cameras and guidance overlays to simplify trailer hookup and backing.

Interior, Technology and Trim Levels

The Silverado EV is available in Work Truck (WT) and RST trim levels. The WT is a no-nonsense commercial and fleet option built for work crews and fleet managers who want to reduce fuel costs at scale. The RST is the consumer-facing trim with a more refined interior, a large curved infotainment display, available Super Cruise hands-free highway driving, and features that position it as a premium truck experience. Both trims benefit from a frunk, the front trunk that opens up additional storage in place of the engine compartment.
