The Grand Cherokee is available in two wheelbase configurations. The standard Grand Cherokee is a two-row, five-passenger SUV that delivers the core Grand Cherokee experience with a more manageable overall size. The Grand Cherokee L adds a third row and extends the wheelbase to create a seven-passenger configuration, making it a direct competitor to the Tahoe, Explorer, and Traverse for families who need three-row capability with genuine off-road credentials. Both share the same powertrain options and trim level structure, with the L being the natural choice for families with more than four regular passengers.
Grand Cherokee 4xe Plug-In Hybrid
The Grand Cherokee 4xe combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with two electric motors and a plug-in battery to deliver a meaningful all-electric range for daily driving alongside 375 horsepower of combined output for when more performance is needed. The 4xe allows many owners to handle their regular commutes and local driving on electricity while retaining the full off-road capability of a standard Grand Cherokee, including the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, Quadra-Lift air suspension, and all the hardware expected from a capable Jeep. The 4xe is available in most Grand Cherokee trim levels, including the Trailhawk.

The Grand Cherokee is offered from the practical Laredo through Limited, Altitude, Overland, Trailhawk, Summit, and Summit Reserve, spanning a range from capable family SUV to near-luxury territory.
